Grand Ideas was the official retailer for Charleston's SECOND ANNUAL DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL! The Festival proceeds go toward cancer survivorship programs in the Charleston tri-county area. There were 51 corporate teams participating this year. Many dollars were raised, new dragon boaters were recruited to the sport of dragon boaing AND Dragon Boat Charleston. More than anything, Charleston, SC came together to support the fight against cancer in a FUN way. Roper St. Francis Cancer Center was the title sponsor of this year's Festival with a record turnout of more than 200 paddlers and volunteers. The all-male Vikings, renowned for their costumes, spirit and zest for life, won the Most Money Raised By A TEAM award. Sally Zervos, RN of Ashley Hall won the award for Most Money Raised By An INDIVIDUAL. The retail merchandise produced this year included women's fitted, youth, & unisex t-shirts, performance fabric caps, decals, water-based temporary tattoos, water bottle holders, & aluminum water bottles. All retail proceeds will be used toward increasing awareness of dragon-boating as a cancer-survivor program.
