GRAND IDEAS HELPS SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT NEW CHARLESTON NON-PROFIT

Grand Ideas, Inc. joined Mettler PR, of Charleston, SC, and Brains on Fire, of Greenville, SC, to help launch the Charleston Parks Conservancy (CPC), a new non-profit in town.

Grand Ideas was hired to plan and implement a "blogger-only" event to be held the day the CPC was officially announced to the media. This event was unique in that it was the first time a local non-profit deliberately and specifically reached out to the blogging community. Creating centerpieces around the historical Crinum lily was just part of Grand Ideas’ charge to physically express the mission and character of the CPC in a relaxed atmosphere. By providing a wireless environment for guests, the bloggers were able to immediately share information on their various blog spots. Now that’s real-time reporting.

The blogger-only event is just a small part of the CPC’s innovative PR and marketing plan, which includes the use of innovative tools, both online and offline, to start a grassroots movement within the Charleston community around the CPC. Plans include using social media tools like Facebook and Twitter, creating downloadable walking tours for iPods, street teams handing out flowers, recruiting “Park Angels,” and more.
